The ONLY Pool Alarm system to sound an alarm the instant a
person or pet falls into the water!
- Use
Safety turtle by the lake, in the boat, around
the pool or pond!
- No installation in the pool is required. Just simply strap a
Turtle Wristband onto the child (or pet), plug
in the remote unit, and the system is armed. If the wristband is submerged in water, the
alarm shrieks.
- There is no need to turn the system off when the pool is in
use or when it is being cleaned.
- Safety
turtle can easily be taken to another pool, to a boat, or to the
cottage.
- Inserting a "Baby Turtle" plug into the Base Station
sets it to recognize Turtles of a matching color. By using different colors of Turtle,
neighbors can enjoy the benefits of
Safety turtle without triggering each other's alarms.
- The alarm volume can be reduced temporarily for testing.
- Spray from lawn sprinklers won't trigger the alarm.
- Safety
turtle has a battery life of at least four years when used every
day.
The Safety turtle alarm system is available in
two versions, and is described below:
A
Standard Safety Turtle alarm system requires one Base
Station (AC Powered) and one or more Turtle Wristbands.
The Base
Station should be placed inside the house, within 100 feet (30
meters) of the pool or body of water.
Turtle
Wristbands are available in 5 attractive colors. Any number of
Turtles of the same color can be used with one Base
Station.

Use Safety Turtle just as you would for a child, only easier. Just attach the
Turtle Wristband to your pet's collar and you can have peace of mind, knowing that you
will be alerted the instant that your dog goes in the water.
Great for use on the docks, on the boat, or anywhere
water presents a hazard to your pets. |
The Safety Turtle is
great for dogs that cannot see the pool's edge or have little swimming ability. Also
used in pools without an easy point of egress (way to get out) for the dog.

 Base Station and Turtle Wristbands are
packaged and sold separately.
As a minimum, order a Base Station and one or more Turtle
Wristbands.
If two or more Turtle Wristbands are being purchased to work with one Base
Station, all Turtles must be the same color. (they are the same radio frequency)
***If a close neighbor is using
Safety turtle, choose a different wristband color than they
have so that
the frequencies won't interfere.***

Technical Notes: |

Safety Turtle Immersion Alarm and Salt Water |
|
Natural fresh water does not greatly impede the signal
radiating from an immersed turtle. No matter how fast a
Turtle descends in the water, it will always alarm on the
way down.
An
increase in salt concentration increases water's
conductivity, making propagation of a radio wave more
difficult. This has an effect of reducing "depth coverage",
the depth below wich a Base Station cannot decipher the
signal transmitted by an immersed turtle.
Note: Salt does NOT affect the operation of the electronics
or a turtle's operating life. |

Child Use with Natural Fresh Water |
|
The
following applies to fresh water having NO sea water
influence.
The
Turtle may be attached anywhere a child cannot remove it,
except under clothing that might prevent or delay it getting
wet on entry in the water. |

|
Use with Sea Water |
|
The
Turtle will not alarm reliably on entry in the water. To
work reliably, the Turtle must thereafter break or nearly
break the water.
Boating - Alarm is not 100% reliable unless the subject
is also wearing a life jacket.
Attach Turtle to rear shoulder strap [above the buoyancy
line] using Velcro Adaptor, or to wrist using locking
wristband.
Shoreline - While not 100% reliable in all cases, Safety
Turtle is effective with a graduated beach. Even if the
child is knocked down by a breaker, alarming will occur when
the breaker recedes.
Attach Turtle to wrist only.
Use
with Salt Chlorinated Pools.
Do
you have a salt chlorinated pool? If you aren't sure,
consult your pool contractor. If you do have a salt
chlorinated pool, read the following:
The
salt concentration of chloride salt pools and spas is
typically 2,400 to 3,600 ppm, but this varies in practice.
The concentration of bromide salt pools and spas is about
half of this. The salt concentration of non-salt chlorinated
pools and spas, including pools using ozonators, varies from
50 parts per million [ppm] to several hundred ppm.
For
successful set up with a chlorine salt pool, the Base
Station may have to be less than 50 ft. [15 m.] from the
pool. Above a 4000 ppm salt concentration, the Base Station
may have to be pool side. Consider a

Commercial/ Extended Range
System |

Commercial/ Extended Range System
A commercial/ Extended Range System consists of an
Integrator Base Station, one or more Turtle wristbands [and/
or gate alarm and/or panic buttons] and [optionally] a
Terrapin supplied Secondary Alarm.
The Integrator Base Station has a three contact female
jack that contains normally open, normally closed and
common contacts. These contacts switch state the instant an
Integrator Base Station starts alarming. The ability to use
normally open or normally closed contacts allows for a wide
variety of interface solutions.
A Commercial. Extended Range System normally replaces the
Standard System in one of the following circumstances:

Desired alarm location is more than 150 - 200 ft.
[45 - 60 m.] from immersion location or 50 ft. [15 m.]
from a salt chlorinated pool.

Desired alarm location is more than 250 ft. [75 m.]
from the gate or panic button location.

Alarming must occur both poolside and in the
residence, as a stipulated in ASTM Standard
Specification for Pool Alarms F2208-02.

Alarm must be louder than 110
decibels, to be heard
throughout the residence or outside.
-
The alarm must be communicated electronically, e.g.,
to home alarm, strobe light indicator, etc.
